A pall of gloom descended on the Tollywood with the spread of news that popular comedy director EVV Satyanarayana passed away due to throat cancer at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad on Friday.

Almost all the artistes who are available in Hyderabad visited EVV’s residence and paid their last respects. Prominent among them are Balakrishna, Mohanbabu, Rajendra Prasad, Nagababu, Dr D Ramananaidu, Manchu Vishnu, Ram Charan Teja, Rajasekhar, Jeevitha, Srikant, Ali, Sivareddy, Venumadhav, Hema, Sudha, music director Koti, director Kodi Ramakrishna, producer C Kalyan, D Sureshbabu, Ashokkumar and several others visited EVV’s house and consoled the family members of EVV.

Hundreds of friends and well-wishers also thronged his residence from the early morning. He would be laid to rest at his farm house in Manikonda on Saturday evening, say his family sources.

Director and comedian AVS exclaimed, ‘It was only EVV after Jandhyala, who reaped good humour on the Telugu screen. With the death of EVV comedy itself burst into tears’.
